Spirit of Hven Tycho's Star Swedish Single Malt Whisky

Spirit of Hven Tycho's Star is a medium-peated Swedish single malt from the tiny, family-owned Spirit of Hven distillery on the island of Hven, in the Öresund strait between Sweden and Denmark. Everything is done on the island, from milling the grain to bottling, and the whisky is named for Hven's most famous resident, the 16th-century astronomer Tycho Brahe, who built his observatory there. It is matured in a mix of oak casks and bottled non chill-filtered in a 750ml bottle.

The whisky is dark and layered: leather and licorice wrapped in ripe plum, lifted by fresh apple and elderflower, with new-mown hay and honeydew melon on a soft finish and a gentle thread of peat smoke throughout. It is one of the most distinctive whiskies in Scandinavia and a prize for collectors of world whisky. Quantities are very limited.
